Summary of "The Modern Day Magellan"
by Scott
According to “The Modern Day Magellan” by Lizbeth Mitchell, Yates was a modern day Magellan because he went around the world on his motorcycle. Yates rode across 35 countries on 6 continents on his motorcycle in less than 12 months. He was interested in motorcycle journeys after he read an article. He went through Asia, down through Australia, up through Argentina, and finished in North America. He stored stuff on his bike and camped in his tent. When he rode he experienced many difficulties: heat, cold, technical difficulties, mechanical difficulties, and language difficulties, but it paid off because he saw beautiful places and met amazing people. Yates is cool because he did all these things on a motorcycle.
