Dear Mr. Weihua:

My name is Annabelle Wu, and I am a fifth grader that lives in ShenZhen. I really like my neighborhood. My favorite part is that we have a swimming pool. It has a place I can exercise. I am writing because I think my neighborhood needs a Cat Café.

To start, the Cat Café can make people happy. First, you can take pictures with the cats and give them treats; it will be very good. Second, when the parents are talking to each other, eating deserts, and drinking drinks, the children are sitting around and are very bored just listening to the adults. When my mom takes me with her and she is talking with her friend, I am very bored. But at a Cat Café, I wouldn’t be very bored because I could go and play with the cats while my mom is talking to her friends. It would not be boring sitting around.

At the same time, some of the families don’t have pets. If they go to the Cat’s Café they can play with the cats, eat deserts, and drink some drinks. It would not waste too much money. If you buy a cat, it will cost a lot of money. It would be very expensive. If you go to the Cat’s Café you could eat and drink something, but it wouldn’t cost any money to play with the cat.

Lastly, people can buy cats at the Cat Café. Also, you play with the cat many times in the Cat Café; you and the cat would be familiar. You like this cat; you want to buy it. The cat would be very happy to go with you because you and this cat have met and played before. In addition, if people really want a cat, it would be a very near to buy a cat. The Cat Café would be near our home so we can walk there. If we do not have to go by taxi or by car, we could save money.

Thank you for reading my letter. I hope you will make our neighborhood better. Maybe you will think about adding a Cat Café.

Sincerely,

吴珂珂

Annabelle Wu

Lake Hillier, the Pink Lake - Scott

Lake Hillier, the Pink Lake by Scott Did you know that there are pink lakes all over the world? Lake Hillier in Australia is one of them! But Lake Hillier has some specialities that set it apart from other pink lakes. For one, Lake Hillier is the only known pink lake that keeps its pink color in a cup. Another fact is that it is relatively untouched by humans and is on an uninhabited island.  Lake Hillier is a relatively small pink lake, untouched by humans, and home to very few animals.  Lake Hillier is a small pink lake in sharp contrast to the surrounding (forest and ocean) that makes its pink color stand out even more. It’s a rather small pink lake measuring only “ 600 meters long and less than 250 meters wide” (Hillier Lake). It is shaped like a footprint (Tourism Western Australia); like a giant stepped on Australia's main island in the Recherche Archipelago (Fadden).  The reason why the lake is pink is still a mystery but some scientists think that the lake...
